Steel grade E295 is a medium-strength structural steel characterized by good weldability, strength and ease of processing. According to the designation, the letter E classifies the steel as machineable, while the numerical value specifies a minimum yield strength of 295 MPa. Thanks to its low carbon content, it is easy to weld with all common methods, such as MIG, MAG and arc welding. It does not require preheating before welding, which reduces production costs. Appropriately designed levels of manganese and silicon, as well as carbon, also ensure good ductility of the steel, which is important in the production of structural components.
E295 steel has good machinability, making it suitable for turning, milling and drilling. E295 steel is widely used in the building, engineering and construction industries, where good strength combined with ease of machining is required.
E295 steel chemical composition
A very important factor determining the mechanical properties of a given steel is its chemical composition. According to melt analysis, the chemical composition of E295 steel should be in accordance with the values given in the table below.

E295 steel application
E295 steel is widely used in the production of structural and mechanical components with medium strength requirements. Typical applications include:
- Construction: load-bearing structures, beams, columns, steel elements in buildings and bridges
- Machinery industry: machine frame elements, bodies and medium load parts.
- Welded structures: frames, tanks, platforms and other components requiring high weldability
- Transportation industry: vehicle and trailer structural components.
