Steel grade DD11

Steel grade DD11 is a structural, unalloyed steel for cold forming. It belongs to the quality steels and is designated by the letters DD and two digits distinguishing the grade, in order of increasing susceptibility to cold plastic deformation. DD11 steel has a certain value of mechanical properties and a maximum allowable concentration of carbon, manganese, phosphorus and sulfur.

It is very often used in the form of flat semi-finished metallurgical products, and is supplied in the form of hot-rolled sheets, strips or strips. It is characterized by very good deformability, characterized by a high value of minimum elongation and limited strength. It is characterized by good ductility and ductility, so it is used for forming operations such as stamping, bending and rolling, and for the production of parts with complex shapes.

DD11 steel belongs to the group of steels that are well welded by conventional methods, such as arc and spot welding. In addition, DC01 steel produced in the form of sheets, strips or bands is often produced as galvanized, aluminized or coated by other methods. Its low carbon and impurity content makes this grade characterized by high ductility and good cold forming ability.

DD11 steel chemical composition

A very important factor determining the mechanical properties of a given steel is its chemical composition. According to melt analysis, the chemical composition of DD11 steel should be in accordance with the values given in the table below.

DD11 steel application

DD11 steel is widely used in many industries, especially where ease of forming and good surface quality are required. Typical applications include:

  • Automotive industry: production of stamped body parts, body panels and structural components
  • Construction industry: steel profiles, structural sheets and trim components
  • Domestic appliance manufacturing: appliance housings such as washing machines, dishwashers and stoves
  • General metallurgy: production of stamped, bent and rolled products
  • Architectural finishes: decorative steel components and interior finishes.
