Steel grade C45+QT

C45 unalloyed quality steel for tempering. It is a very versatile grade of steel, used in many industries. C45 steel is characterized by abrasion resistance and good wear resistance, making it ideal for the production of parts that require high strength and suitable for the production of parts that are exposed to heavy use and friction. It is used for parts that are subjected to medium loads during operation. It is a material with good machinability, making it easy to machine, which allows for precise shaping and finishing of parts. Economically, it is a material readily available on the market and relatively inexpensive compared to other steel grades with similar properties. It is among the steel grades that are difficult to weld.

C45+QT steel delivery conditions

C45+QT steel is C45 steel in tempered condition. The tempering process consists of hardening and tempering, which improves the mechanical properties of the steel, such as strength and hardness. Thanks to the heat treatment carried out, it is used in the production of components that require high strength and wear resistance, including shafts and axles, gears, machine components or cutting tools.

Heat treatment process:

• Hardening: 820-860°C, cooling in water or oil
• Tempering: 550-660°C

C45+QT steel, thanks to its good mechanical properties, high strength and ductility, is often used for the manufacture of moderately loaded machine and equipment components that are resistant to abrasion. These are mainly:

• axles, shafts, spindles, , unhardened gears, electric motor shafts, ordinary knives, corkscrews, wheel hubs, rods, rollers, discs, screws, levers, pump rotors.
