41Cr4 steel is an alloyed steel, containing 0.3 to 0.5% carbon and alloying elements such as chromium, silicon, manganese, nickel or molybdenum, the sum of which does not exceed 5%. It is characterized by machinability and good hardenability, but is not easily welded. The chromium content has a beneficial effect on the hardenability of the steel, increases its strength and contributes to grain fineness, in addition to improving corrosion resistance. The proportion of manganese has a favorable effect on wear resistance.
41Cr4 steel is also amenable to forging and rolling. In order to obtain good mechanical properties, it requires appropriate heat treatment, including hardening and tempering. As a result, the finished product is characterized by high surface hardness and adequate core strength.
Thanks to the steel's resistance to impact and abrasion, it extends the service life of products made from it and reduces the cost of use. Due to its high strength, it is very often used in the manufacture of machine components, vehicles and buildings.
