Steel grade 35HGS

35HGS steel is a structural steel for tempering and also for surface hardening. It is characterized by high wear resistance and high strength, and belongs to the group of high-strength steels. Most often, it is used after tempering or quenching for the production of heavily loaded parts, which are intended for the construction of medium-sized machinery, and its hardness increases and cities in the range of 52-57 HRC. 35HGS steel is an alternative to the frequently used nickel-molybdenum steels.

This steel grade is also designed for isothermal hardening, during which isothermal hardening is carried out at a temperature higher than the temperature of the onset of martensitic transformation, i.e. 250-400℃, for a time that ensures the completion of bainitic transformation, followed by cooling to room temperature in calm air. This treatment lowers thermal and structural stresses and reduces the possibility of crack formation, resulting in increased hardness, strength and ductility of the steel.

Steel grade 35HGS is a hard-welded material, but is susceptible to machining and cutting. Finished products from this grade of steel are characterized by high wear resistance, and high strength properties. This steel is mainly used in the automotive, aerospace, power generation industries, for heavily loaded parts in medium-sized machinery.

35HGS steel application

35HGS steel is used in the manufacture of components subjected to heavy loads, in particular:

  • shafts, used in the automotive and engineering industries.
  • transmission components that must withstand high dynamic loads.
  • bolts and axles, requiring high tensile strength.
  • shafts, axles, connecting rods, spindles, levers and half-shafts of trucks and tractors, mainly used in the construction of medium-sized machinery
